What does Product of Canada mean?

I remember a few years ago there was an uproar in the news when consumers found out the canned apple juice they were buying in the store that was labelled "Product of Canada" was actually made from an apple concentrate grown in China but assembled and packaged in Canada.

Our labeling laws were amended and passed in December 2008.  Now if Product of Canada appears on a label it means that all major ingredients and labour used to make the food must come from Canada. Made in Canada can be used when a food product is manufactured in Canada or processed in Canada but the ingredients can be domestic, imported or both.
