Fair Trade

What is fair trade?  In Canada TransFair owns the FAIR TRADE CERTIFICATE and CERTIFIE EQUITABLE (French) trademarks.  They guarantee that when their logo is used it stands for fairness and global social responsibility in international trade.

I buy the following Fair Trade items that have this logo: bananas, cocoa, chocolate, coffee, mangos, quinoa, rice, spices, sugar and tea.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency allows "fair trade" claims on food sold in Canada provided they are not false or misleading and meet the requirements.
